What the grades mean

Each Avata 2 on the stock list carries one of three grades for how it looks.

Grade A: Excellent

Hard to tell from little-used at arm’s length.

Grade B: Good

Normal signs of use you can see, nothing on the glass.

Grade C: Fair

Clearly used and marked, every function working.

The letter describes cosmetic condition only. Every graded unit passed the same function checks, whatever its letter. Full grading standard

What we check

The drones checklist, applied to every Avata 2. A unit that fails a line is set aside, not graded.

Identity and account

  • DJI accountAircraft and remote controller are not linked to the previous owner’s DJI account, and the drone activates in DJI Fly on a new account.
  • Firmware and serial numbersFirmware version recorded. Serial numbers of aircraft, remote controller and batteries recorded and matched to the unit.

Aircraft and flight

  • Power-on and self-checkAircraft and remote controller power up, link to each other and clear the start-up checks in DJI Fly with no warnings.
  • MotorsEach motor spun up and listened to for bearing noise; checked for heat and vibration after a hover.
  • Test flightTake-off, hover, a short flight in each direction and landing, with the aircraft holding position when the sticks are released.
  • IMU and compass calibrationBoth calibrations completed in DJI Fly without errors.
  • Vision and obstacle sensorsOn models that have them: lenses cleaned and sensing tested.
  • Frame and historyArms, hinges, propeller mounts and shell checked for cracks, repair marks and signs of water entry. Damaged propellers replaced.

Camera, gimbal and link

  • GimbalFull travel on each axis, gimbal auto-calibration run, horizon level, no jitter or drift in recorded footage.
  • CameraPhoto and video recorded to the card at the highest resolution the model supports, then checked for focus, banding and dead pixels.
  • Video transmissionLive view held between aircraft and remote controller through the test flight, with no dropouts.

Batteries and remote

  • BatteriesCycle count and battery health read in DJI Fly and recorded. Checked for swelling and damaged contacts, charged to full, cell voltages balanced.
  • Remote controllerSticks center and travel fully; every button, dial and the charging port tested; screen checked on DJI RC models.

Range is the FCC figure, measured in open, interference-free conditions; DJI quotes a shorter range under CE rules. Flight times are measured by DJI with a new battery. A used battery gives less, depending on its health.
